TWIN BRIDGES, Mont. (AP) -- Strong winds and possibly a tornado caused severe damage in small southwestern Montana town, uprooting trees and blowing the roof off at least one building.
Madison County sheriff's spokesman Steve DiGiovanna says a National Weather Service representative was expected to visit Twin Bridges on Friday to determine if a tornado touched down during Thursday afternoon's storm.
He says some falling trees damaged historical buildings, including the museum, and the roof was ripped off a veterinary clinic outside of town. He says an airport hangar was destroyed, a trailer was crushed by falling trees, and a grandstand at the Madison County Fairgrounds was flipped over and destroyed.
DiGiovanna says someone took video of the storm and he witnessed what appeared to be a tornado funnel touching the ground.
The weather service reported 90 mph wind speeds in the area.

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women in the United States?with one in every 8 women developing this cancer. Breast cancer typically develops as a small tumor (or lump) in the tissues throughout the breasts and then, if cancerous, spreads through the lymph nodes.
The best hope of surviving a breast cancer diagnosis is via early detection. That?s why routine self-exams of the breasts to identify any lumps, as well as annual check-ups and mammograms with your health care professional are important.
Here are 10 early warning signs to look out for during your self-breast exams at home?
When performing a self breast exam, carefully apply pressures to the breasts and surrounding tissues with your fingers. Both benign (non cancerous) and malignant (cancerous) breast lumps sometimes form under the armpit, in the collarbone, near the site of the lymph nodes, and around the nipples, as rigid, hard, tender lumps that don?t move when you press against them. Any tenderness may be due to swollen tissues. If you detect a lump, call your doctor immediately.

To some extent, ASUS is a victim of its own success: it gave the budget tablet category a boost with the original Nexus 7, and it now faces a legion of competitors in that space. The company is taking a two-step approach to maintaining its relevance. The new Nexus 7 tackles the higher end, with top-tier specs that include a 1080p display and wireless charging. Right now, though, we're more interested in ASUS' low-end solution, the MeMo Pad HD 7. While it's one of the cheaper name-brand tablets at $150, it promises some of the quality we typically expect from more expensive products. But is the HD 7 good enough to fend off other entry-level tablets? And can it attract customers who'd be willing to pay the premium for a new Nexus 7'? Let's find out.

German automaker BMW is targeting a "meaningful" chunk of the electric-car market and expects demand to be driven up as urban populations rise, its sales chief said on Monday as he unveiled the company's battery-powered i3 model.
The world's biggest luxury carmaker has declined to give sales or production goals for the four-seater i3, to be followed early next year by a battery-powered i8 sports car.
But the company already sees good sales potential for its first all-electric vehicle in affluent urban regions of California, Europe and Asia, sales chief Ian Robertson said.
Some 92,000 people have expressed an interest in test-driving the i3 online.
"We're not entering to be a niche player," Robertson told reporters at the i3's launch event in London, also staged simultaneously in New York and Beijing.
"We're targeting meaningful sales," he said, in an electric-car market which BMW expects to grow to between 150,000 and 160,000 vehicles globally this year, from 7,000 in 2010.
Demand will rise as the number of people living in urban environments more than doubles to 4-5 billion over the next 20-25 years, Robertson said, citing United Nations projections.
While the i3's ?34,950 price tag is well above the conventional BMW 3-Series saloon's, it also qualifies for tax breaks and generous upfront government incentives in markets such as Britain and the United States.
The company, which has trademarked its new 'i' series through to i9, does not yet have another i-branded model in development to follow the i8, Robertson said.
