New State Website, Legal Guide For Military And Vets

Illinois launched a new statewide public-private partnership last week to improve support for service members, veterans and their families. Illinois Joining Forces hopes to fill gaps in services in job training and placement, healthcare, education and housing and assistance for active and ex-military members.

The new collaborative online platform, www.IllinoisJoiningForces.org, will help IJF members share information, collaborate on projects and facilitate referrals. With the active participation of IJF members, www.IllinoisJoiningForces.org will also provide a user-friendly way for service members, veterans, and their families to find programs, resources and events across the state. The website will become fully developed and searchable on November 19th.

Not too coincidentally, Attorney General Lisa Madigan last week released comprehensive guide on the many legal protections, rights and benefits for military service members, veterans and their families. Madigan?s guide can be obtained at http://www.illinoisattorneygeneral.gov/rights/veterans.html.
